It’s Purple Tuesday today! Purple Tuesday is a global initiative that aims to improve the customer experience for people with disabilities and their families.
Did you know that there is 1.8 billion disabled people in the world, representing 17% of the population AND 70% of disabled people will NOT return to a business after receiving a poor customer service.
We ask organisations to make commitments to improve accessibility and practices, ensuring that their deaf and hard of hearing customers have more inclusive and positive experience by:
- Learning sign language, even basic signs like “good morning” or “thank you” will make a difference!
- Undertaking deaf awareness courses
- Providing BSL interpreters wherever necessary
- Ensuring that your videos are captioned and accessible
Nottinghamshire Deaf Society offer deaf awareness and BSL courses to organisations from all sectors and size – please contact training@nottsdeaf.org.uk for more information.
