Sign Language Lesson in progress

BSL Level 6 is aimed at those who already have an advanced knowledge of BSL at Level 3. The aim of this course is to further develop your linguistic skills in British Sign Language towards advanced level and is for those who already work, or wish to work, in a professional capacity with Deaf people, such as teachers of the deaf, social workers for deaf people, voluntary workers with deaf people and employees within a deaf organisation. It also provides a stepping stone into the Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Sign Language Interpreting or Level 6 Diploma in Sign Language Translation.

This course covers the Signature Level 6 curriculum which teaches students how to maintain sustained communication (receptive and productive) in BSL in both one-way and two-way interactions. Students will be taught within a small group, using a variety of methods, by very experienced Deaf tutors. The quality of the teaching is reflected in our above the national average results.

For this qualification it is essential that our students are immersed in the Deaf Community as much as possible to gain as much knowledge and research which will help them to achieve the best during their Level 6 course.
