Lipreading
Lip reading is a vital skill for people who are deaf, deafened or hard of hearing
It is the technique of understanding speech by visually interpreting the movements of the lips, face and tongue when normal sound is not available, relying also on information provided by the context, knowledge of the language, and any residual hearing.
Our lip reading classes are designed to give people the confidence and skills to positively tackle the isolation associated with hearing loss. Classes are informal and friendly with no assessments, and are taught by an experienced qualified teacher.
You will also be able to share experiences with people who have different degrees of hearing loss and pick up lots of tips and practical information to help you cope with your hearing loss.
Course options are:
Tuesdays 2pm-3:30pm at NDS.
Thursdays 6-7pm online via Zoom.
You can find out about all of these courses as well as booking yourself a place via our course booking page
Students are welcome to join at anytime throughout the course and will be charged a proportion of the course cost.
