Hearing Deaf Voices

The heritage project ‘Hearing Deaf Voices’ ran from April 2016 to June 2017. It was funded through the Heritage Lottery Fund. It celebrated the rich history, heritage and culture of Nottinghamshire Deaf Society and the Deaf Community in Nottinghamshire.

Throughout the project, we:

  • filmed interviews with community members
  • archived photographs, videos, documents, and items of interest
  • developed a digital timeline to display the rich history of our charity
  • held events for our community and the wider public
  • enabled members of the public to learn about our work through a portable display.

Our hope is that the archive can help enable future heritage projects run by the Nottinghamshire Deaf community.
