Deaf Awareness, British Sign Language (BSL) & Communication Tactics Training Courses

One in seven of the population have some degree of hearing loss (RNID) so it is highly likely you will come into contact with deaf/hard of hearing people.

Even in simple situations such as asking directions or booking appointments communication can easily break down which can become embarrassing and frustrating.

Our courses aim to build your confidence and skills to enable you to communicate more effectively with deaf/hard of hearing people.

For organisations these training courses will help to improve service provision to this client group and can be part of the 'reasonable adjustments' that need to be made under Disability Discrimination Legislation.

Regular Deaf Awareness, BSL and Communication Tactics training courses are held here at the Deaf Society or alternatively we can develop bespoke training courses specific to the needs of an organisation with focused practical exercises on typical situations your staff may face.
